positions held by victims to saturday's air disaster. >> sonia gallego joins from us london with more. good morning. with that fatal plane crash that claimed the country's president and first lady, officials have pinpointed the plane's landing attempt. the plane's black box reveals that pilot error may have played a part in the crash. the vice president of russia's airport says the pilot of the 1245 aircraft was flying too low in thick fog and narrowly missed the runway when it attempted to land at pechorsk's airport, using this to demonstrate the ascent. aside from the president lech kaczynski only 15 bodies have been identified. the body was identified by his

twin brother yarraf. tens of thousands of people gathered to watch the body of president kaczynski go through the streets of warsaw, as sirens wailed, two minutes of silence went across the country. it has been a focus of people's tributes. but amidst the morning, many are turning their thoughts as to how the plane with so many high-ranking dignitaries on board came to such a tragic end. >> when you've got the president of the country and other dignitaries, the pressure on that pilot to get the plane where it was supposed to go is incredibly high. unfortunately, it sounds like it was too high. >> reporter: and across the united states, polish immigrants showed their condolence from new york.

the government is later expected to give details of the funeral arrangements. in the meantime, the president's body will lie in state at the presidential palace. jeremy, vinita. >> what about the reports that we're hearing that the pilot was pressured to land, maybe even by the president himself? >> well, the voice recorder may indicate that if that is true. now, that has been recovered but the contents have not been released publicly. two years ago, the president requested that the pilot land in dangerous conditions. the pilot disagreed. >> thank you. well, leaders from arnold the world are in washington for talks of nuclear security. t.j. winick joins from us washington with a preview. good morning, t.j. >> yeahmy, good morning to you. president obama has already been hard on work on this issue even before the conference begins. just yesterday he met with leaders from such countries as india and pakistan.

to convince china to step up pressure over iran. >> their blelligerence it helpig to make our case every single day. >> the summit follows last week's signing of a treaty by the u.s. and russia which will cut nuclear warheads in each country by about 30%. the white house is also working on a list of candidates to preplace retiring supreme court justice john paul stevens. hearings will likely take place this summer with the new justice at the beginning of the next court term in october. federal investigators will arrive in west virginia to begin looking into that explosion that killed 29 coal miners but they won't be able to enter the mine right away. toxic gases have risen to deadly high levels again. all underground operations have been suspended until the mine can be properly ventilated. only a few of the 29 miners have

been removed to be buried. this afternoon, at 3:30, a moment of silence held to mark one week. charging customers for the carry-on bags. last week, spirit announced an increase on the bags. they asked to charge the airlines for the fee. when it was all over, the green jacket went to three-time winner phil mickelson. it was a dramatic final for mickelson who topped off the win with a long embrace with his ailing wife, his wife and mother are both battling breast cancer. >> such a great story. now, a look at the weather from around the nation. another stormy day out west. heavy rain for much of

it could be a big week on wall street. first quarter corporate earnings reports begin to come out today with google, intel and jpmorgan chase among them. it could spur the stock market to i seventh week of gains. the dow briefly touched the 11,000 mark on friday for the first time in a year and a half. and that high water mark could boost retail confidence. >> people pay attention to these big round numbers and that has the potential to bring retail investors back in the game. a lot of rally so far has been driven by big institutions but if mom and pops get into it, that could bring the dow higher still. >> as good as the market rally is, it's still 20% off the

record high back in 2007. it's time for market activity. tokyo's nikkei average rose 47 points today. hong kong's hang seng fell 70. in london the ftse opened higher. on wall street, the dow gained 70 points. the nasdaq at 17. the new airline survey found that performance improved in 2009 for the second year in a row. planes were more likely to land on time and bags were more likely to be lost, as new airlines cut back on flights from everything from checked bags to pillows. but there was a slight increase in the number of people bumped off flight due to overbooking. fill mickelson's win at the masters is going to cost calloway golf about $1 million. it promised customers buying a specific club that they would get a full refund if mickelson won the green jacket. the company said they even bought insurance to cover the large payout. coming ahead on this monday,

well, you are looking at some incredibly dramatic video from northern california, a daring rescue attempt. the rescuers first tried to pluck a woman from rushing waters but she disappeared. >> the victim was then spotted about 20 yards downstream unconscious on a rock in the middle of a canal. the rescue team grabbed her and the helicopter whisked them both to safety. >> the very lucky lady was revived. paramedics working on her right on the banks of the river there. she was taken to the hospital. now, for a look at the morning's road conditions, still wet on interstate 5 from l.a. to

he spoke to the russian president about whether adoptions to the united states should be stopped. >> this case has captured the attention of the russian public and top authorities in the russian government. and there are new developments today. a russian lawyer has come forward saying that on march 1st she was contacted by e-mail by the adopted grandmother of justin, nancy hansen, asking about the procedure for returning justin to russia. the lawyer said it was indeed possible. after that first esmail, she heard nothing further. so from the best we can determine, nothing happened after that. meanwhile, the russian foreign minister has said all russian adoptions should be spoken. when i spoke to president medvedev, i asked him about that idea. >> translator: we should understand what is going on with our children, we should refrain from adopting russian children by american parents. i can only say we are alarmed by

the tendency. >> so far, it seems at least that no final decision has been made about freezing the adoptions currently going forward. when i spoke with the american ambassador here, john buyerly, he said that the united states is going to speed up that agreement, and he hopes that the russians will not freeze the adoptions that are currently going forward. >> george will have more of his interview with the president. and also the exclusive interview with the russian official in charge of monitoring these children. it's coming up on "good morning america." there is still no sign of a colorado girl who vanished 12 weeks ago. kailee wilson wasn't seen since march 28th. searchers were out again yesterday combing the woods her her home. so far, a massive search by the fbi has failed to turn up any major leads. some health news this morning, teens and younger woman who regularly drink alcohol have
